Bi-directional protocol activation is no different than protocol activation. It uses the same techniques, with one extra feature, a redirect URL. The redirect URL is responsible for activating the next step in an app-to-app workflow scenario. When the user is done with a task in one app, it would return the user to another protocol activated app (maybe the originator), and provide a contextual experience representing the completion of the task.
