QuickTime support in windows without the player

Want to use Windows Media Player to watch QuickTime movies without the Apple player (which I find has a poor user interface, and non standard windows controls)?

The best part is that it includes a DirectShow filter. This means that any application on Windows that supports DirectShow (Windows Media Player, Media Center) can just play .mov files. Sweet!

    Even better than the QuickTime Alternative, is the Real Alternative (downloadble from the same site) which allows you to play RealMedia in Windows Media Player without having to polute your machine with the spyware known as RealPlayer...

    So, I might be missing something here, but how does windows media player have "standard windows controls"? It has them becaue microsoft wrote it rather than apple?

    I won't argue the quality of the interface, as that's purely subjective...

    take a look at the menus in QuickTime player. They don't behave like windows menus at all. They are barely readable.

    Oh, I'm not claiming that Quicktime for windows is a bastillon of UI design... I am just asserting that WMP uses its own custom widgits as often as QT does (at least WMP 9 does, I haven't installed 10).

    QuickTime's annoying to me because it prompts you to upgrade _every_time_you_use_it! I'm a big fan of the QuickTime / RealPlayer Alternatives.

    Have you gotten this to work in MCE? I can get it to play fine in Media Player, but MCE still doesnt see the files...

    Has anyone got this to work with Beta 10 of the Media Player? Also, it says it ships with Classic Media Player. Any way I can just install the codecs and let WMP Beta 10 use them?
