dasBlog 1.6 released

I've released dasBlog 1.6. You can read the release notes and the new features and bug fixes.

There are many flavors for the the bits on the dasBlog workspace.

In short, there are many bug fixes, Atom 0.3 support, even better Search feature, some new macros, better permission failures, perf enhancements, log file archiving and some others.

Special thanks to all the workspace contributers for all their work!

On another note. I'm not sure I can bear doing another release on GotDotNet. I love GDN for some of my smaller projects, but it took me over 4 hours this weekend to checkout/checkin the entire source as well as upload 5 releases. Using the Windows Forms interface for GDN is like watching a turtle do the 400 meter dash.

Interesting, I seem to remember you being the most vocal critic when I decided to move RSS Bandit from GDN to SourceForge. I guess once your project gets big enough you start to feel the growing pains. I'll be interested to see what you end up doing.

PS: SourceForge is working out great for me.

Yup. The performance is really getting me. I don't experience this problem with the Visual Studio.NET interface which is what I use for everything except for dasBlog.

I've been talking to Andy and it sounds like there is relief for the perf issue in the future. I'm hoping that solves this problem before the next release of dasBlog.

FlexWiki is another gdn workspace I'm a member of and it looks like they are thiking of moving to Source Forge. Their problems are a bit more complex than mine. I just have problems with the perf...

Great! I started blogging with dasBlog, then I moved to dotText.

It looked like there was not much support for dasBlog.

I liked the general direction of dasBlog more than that of dotText but it seemed that dotText was evolving quicker than dasBlog.

I hope that dasBlog picks up in its pace of evolving and upgrading its feature abse. It would also be nice if it moved onto using SQL Server as the data storage medium.

    Thanks for all your effort!

Firstly thank you for the new dasBlog. I was looking for the archives and search feature and looks like you have them coming. I need to look into how good it is.

No SQL server - if you want you could provide optional assemblies that use a different backend, but bu default - NO. The main reason I am other I know are on dasBlog instead of .Text is beacuse of the non DB backend.

A feature I would like to have is human readable urls for posts - can you please add this?

Also, if you are considering moving off GDN, consider codehaus - very smart place.
