Gaining New Insights with your data by leveraging Big Data repositories

We spent some time at the recent Global Energy Forum discussing the power of Big Data and the flexibility that Haddop in Azure will bring.  The scenario discussed at GEF was of a Big Data repository being used to store all information, structured and unstructured, about submersible pumps and then allowing users to query the repository to ask questions like "What happens to pumps before they fail?".   Big data infrastructures will allow you to search and analyze across all kinds of datasources.  You could then take the search results and bring them in to traditional BI tools for further examination.
