The timing of this week’s newsletter is particularly difficult. I write this editorial in the wake of the devastating earthquake that has hit Christchurch and the true extent of the damage is still unfolding. My thoughts go out to those personally affected by the disaster and I encourage you to please contact us if you require technical assistance.
In two weeks’ time we are planning to present two developer sessions around the country. After a discussion with my colleagues in Christchurch, we have chosen to cancel the Christchurch event that was originally planned for Tuesday 15th March. We will contact those who have already registered, and will make the content available to view online.
In the first session, I will present on ASP.NET MVC3, Razor, Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate and emerging HTML5 capabilities. The second Mike Zeff will present on the new features in Windows Azure including how to use Windows Azure to compliment your mobile applications. Please register now to secure your place.
To tie in with the training we have a new Windows Azure introductory special that includes 750 free hours of a Windows Azure extra-small instance. We have also been working on a 30 day Azure Pass so you can try the Azure platform without the need for a credit card.Since demand is high worldwide for this offer, we will be giving out tokens at the sessions to access this service. If you live in Christchurch or another centre that we are not traveling to, please email us to request a token.
It would be remiss of me to close this editorial without congratulating Keith Patton at Marker in Auckland, the team at NV Interactive, Jay Nielson and Ben Gracewood for their performance at the Onyas in Wellington last week. The highlight for me was to see Keith's Windows Phone 7 app win the Best Mobile Application Award.
