Visual Studio 2008 is now live on MSDN Subscriber Downloads
As of 0900 (PST) on Monday November 19, 2007.
You have two avenues to download the files you are entitled to
1. Top Subscriber Downloads (make sure to allow popups)
2. Suscriber Downloads and Product Keys link
Enjoy!
4:30 PM UPDATE - Sorry for getting some of you so excited. I did NOT realize that not all versions would be on Subscriber Downloads (accessed through Subscriber Downloads ad Product Keys links) right away at launch. They are being added incrementally.
All 13 files ARE available via the Top Subscriber Downloads area using the Akamai Download Manager. Note - that only the editions that your Subscription level is entitled to should be listed.
For Akamai, make sure to allow pop ups, and there is a known "feature" that the dialog box sometimes hides behind other windows and does not appear in the task tray.

Clicking any link on the "Top Subscriber Downloads" page does not result in the Akamai Download Manager installation for me and I don't see any of the VS 2008 downloads available from the Subscriber Downloads entitlement area. Am I missing something?Anonymous

Will the VS2008 Team Developer Edition be posted soon?Anonymous

Pop-up links work fine for the SKUs available there, but Subscriber Downloads and Product Keys link only shows new content as of 11/15/07 and all previous Visual Studio 2008 (tree) links are gone. Also, any idea when the MSDN Premium (Certified Partner) SKU for the Developer Role will be available?Anonymous

I keep getting "Network error" with Top Subscriber. Are there too many people downloading?Anonymous

Would be nice of the Top Subcriber Downloads app showed up on the start menu, or at least a tray icon, so that it doesnt get lost behind all my windows when I want to check status (and so it could be properly minimized).Anonymous

I do not see #2, the Subscriber Downloads and Product Keys. I only see the trial versions available in the Top Subscriber Downloads. Can you please direct me to the Subscriber Download? Thanks.Anonymous

We're a Certified Partner and have obtained the Custom Solutions Development competency. My subscription is called: MSDN VL Subscriber Download Visual Studio w/MSDN Premium Downloads and Product Keys That doesn't seem to sync up with the typical MSDN subscription levels. How would I go about getting access to the Developer Edition bits with the above subscription? The last time around we had to wait until we were shipped a copy of VS2005 for Software Developer which was several months after RTM.Anonymous

Yay! Got the downloading working by running the link a couple times directly with Firefox. IE would keep redirecting me back to VS.NET's top subscriber downloads even tho I've disabled popups. Ironic.Anonymous

We are a Gold Certified Partner with a MSDN Subscription (Volume License). We cannot see the Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers among the downloads. Did we miss something important?Anonymous

If we download the Trial edition of Team, will we need to reinstall once the full edition is out?Anonymous

I seem to be in the same situation as colin. I have a VL subscription for Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers with MSDN Premium. I see VS standard/express/professional & VSTS workgroup & development and a couple of vsts trial versions but no 'for software developer' editions. The link on that page for subscriber downloads leads to a vs2008readme that just links back to the original top downloads page. Will we be seeing the proper verions on the top downloads ? How long before these are included in a subscription shipment ?Anonymous

When I try to download the VS2008 professional, I recieve a message after trying to save the file "en_visual_studio_2008_professional_x86_x64wow_dvd_X14-26326.iso" explaining me that this file is not available for download. What's up?Anonymous

The download app appears briefly, then disappears. Browser returns to original page, but it appears that no download has taken place. I get the same thing with popup blocker, phishing filter, and firewall disabled. Trace of web traffic shows no errors. Any ideas?Anonymous

What fun! The only thing that got downloaded was a temporary internet file with an *.iso extension...this was not an iso file at all, but an html file with javascript in it. I opened it, took out the link from the javascript, and pasted it into the address window of the browser. Abracadabra! It is now downloading VS 2008. Or something really big.Anonymous

Any way to download without the download manager? That thing never works through our proxy server for some reason.Anonymous

I get the same "Network Error" when attempting to download. Definitely not an isolated incident. Just to be safe I've also emailed a screenshot. Look forward to a resolution to the prob! Cheers, PhillAnonymous

Hello, I have the same issue as Colin. Please advise! ColbyAnonymous

Hmm. 2007. You would think the download manager that you pick would understand NTLM authenticated proxies. When will you have this off of the Akamai servers and on to your own?Anonymous

We are Gold Certified Partner with Custom Development Solutions competency and we have the same problem as Colin Bowern - unable to download Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers. Our subscription is called MSDN VL Subscriber Download Visual Studio w/MSDN Premium Downloads and Product Keys. How can we obtain/download VSTS 2008 for Sowtware Developers?Anonymous
November 20, 2007
Can you post the SHA-1 hashes, please?Anonymous

Like you Colin, we're a Gold Partner with Custom Solutions Development competency and while we have been able to download VS2005 Developer Edition (and not it seems VS2008 Dev Edition) we have never seen the full (non trial or workgroup) version of Team Foundation Server. I sincerely hope we don't have to wait for these CDs to ship.Anonymous

Guys, tha Akamai download manager is a joke on Vista.. I've already reexecuted the VS2k8 professional download three times already! It's unable to resume downloads vis the download manager link, I can't remember where it dropped the file to in the Virtual Store folder so I can see wheter or not the partially downloaded file was deleted or not. Not a fun experience...Anonymous

Clicking on the link does noting. Does a postback. No pop-up!Anonymous

This Akami download manager isn't very successul. I've set this going a couple of times, only to come back later and discover its only retrieved a portion of the ISO image. It doesn't seem to have a decent retry capability either.Anonymous

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/bb153537.aspx#fatalerror I have received this message three times when downloading the ISO for VS2008 Professional. Afterwards, Akamai deletes the file and I have to start all over again. This has occurred twice at work and once at home so I know it is not a specific firewall/proxy error. At home it occurred when I was 97% done, whereas at work it happened both times when it was around 40% complete. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!Anonymous

I have tried to download this 5 times and each time the download manager gives up on it. Each time I get to around 80 to 95% and then it gives me a persistent network error. I thought it might be a problem with Vista so I tried it on my XP machine and I got 99% but it said it failed to verify the integrity of the file and that I hould try opening the file myself. I closed the download manager and its deleted the file!! Are there any known issues with this or will I have to wait until I get my shipment?Anonymous

I have same problem as Mike, after download 73% and 78% (about 6 hours of downloading) I have got "Network error" - "The file is not available ... Contact with author of the page" I have DSL link. What is a problem? End of session?Anonymous

The Akamai download manager cannot download any content from behind my corporate firewall and/or proxy. I keep getting either Refused Connections errors, or other various network errors. What proxy server authentication does it use ( same as IE or none ), and what ports is the download manager using. The download manager is infinitely WORSE than the one used inside the Subscriber downloads areaAnonymous

I tried 3rd time to download VS2008 Pro - still error. After 76% of download I have got error: "There's a persistent network connectivity error preventintg download completion, indicating a problem with your connection to the Internet. Please check your Internet connection before continuing. Choose Yes to continue ...". My connection works all time, so I choose Yes and I got Download Manager Fatal error: "The requested file is not available for download. Contact the author of the page that contains the link. This download will be canceled". What is bad with the link? Is it changing or the time to download is too short and the session end?Anonymous

I am having problems with the download. The Akamai Download manager starts fine and I have got to various stages of download, the best being 84% complete. Then there is a connection network error which causes the download manger to report that the source file is missing and the download then terminates. Why can't this new download manager have recovery so that I don't have to keep downloading from the beginning. Downloading in in my area is very expensive (5c/MB) so if is going to insist on starting at the beginning it becomes impractical to keep trying to download. I am going to have to wait until March for this software to arrive on DVD.Anonymous
