Upcoming changes to Subscriber Downloads site

Now that we're in our final launch planning, I'm going to try to introduce some of the major new features of the MSDN Subscriber Downloads site that you'll be able to see starting next week. About every day or so I plan to post an updated Blog entry describing a particular feature or improvement, up to our planned August 14 launch.

The most noticable change to the MSDN Subscriber Downloads site is going to be the new navigation between Passport login and the Subscriber Downloads page. Currently, when you sign in to Passport, you are prompted to accept a EULA, then taken to the Subscriber Downloads page after clicking OK.

Starting next week, after signing in to Passport you will be taken to a portal page that shows all of your subscription benefits, along with links to additional subscription tasks like adding an additional subscription to your Passport (more on this later). The four online subscription benefits we'll present are Subscriber Downloads, Managed Newsgroups, Online Concierge Chat, and PSS Support Incidents. If you click on the Subscriber Downloads benefit, you'll be taken to the familiar Subscriber Downloads page.

If you have bookmarked the Subscriber Downloads homepage, then you will be auto-redirected back to the main portal page (and prompted to log in to Passport if you haven't already). Although we are adding an additional click to get to the Subscriber Downloads platform, we are removing the EULA page on every login so the actual number of clicks are the same.

Tomorrow's topic: Multiple Subscriptions Per Passport!

Cheers,

of course, you could save yourself a week of blogging and just make it active now, then we could see it all for ourselves!

Since it is now the 18th and no actual sign of site changes, I assume the date has slipped.
