Recent news from the world of MSDN Subscriptions

I wanted to bring you up to date with a number of new items from MSDN Subscriptions:

TFS Ships

Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Workgroup Edition is currently available from MSDN Subscriber Downloads to all VSTx w/MSDN Premium subscribers. The Workgroup Edition is exactly the same as the full retail version but limits use to 5 users. If you haven't yet transitioned your MSDN Univesal Subscription, there's no time like the present.

All MSDN Premium customers, including Visual Studio 2005 Professional with MSDN Premium, have access to TFS Trial Edition which rounds out the VS2005 Team Suite Trial that is also available. These Trial Editions have full retail functionality, however they are time bombed for 180 days.

Office Professional change

As some of you noticed, in the February 2006 media shipments Office Professional Enterprise Edition 2003 was replaced with retail Office Professional Edition 2003. Volume license subscribers who are used to being able to use their VLK will experience a product key error during setup. The Enterprise Edition remains available to volume license MSDN subscribers from MSDN Subscriber Downloads.

Product Key Glitch

Separately, a temporary misconfiguration within MSDN Subscriber Downloads allowed some subscribers to request more than one Office product key recently. This problem has since been resolved and we are working on undoing the multiple key requests.

Special thanks to James van Eaton for his assistance with these items. We look forward to bringing you additional items of note in upcoming posts.

Best regards,

Seth Adams
