Aw heck, is that a lump in my throat?

Laura introduced me to Peter Provost at the Microsoft MVP Summit a few months ago. His wife was expecting. My wife is expecting. He gave me some good advice. We parted ways.

At TechEd, I bumped into Peter again at a Team System design preview. He smiled at me from across the room, listened to the presentation politely, and then laid into the design of and plans for Visual Studio Team System with a precision and fury that made the marketing cats run for cover and the developer dogs reevaluate their footing...in a good way.

Today, I was catching up on my blog reading and came upon the announcement of the birth of Peter's son, Finn. After tripping over the name--way cool--I landed smack dab in the middle of little Finn Provost's picture. Finn Provost: Good name. Cute kid. Great dad.

My wife's hormones must be rubbing off on me because I can't seem to get rid of that lump in my throat.  [Placeholder] Parnell is close. Jen thought we were on a glidepath to an early RTW but that no longer appears to be the case. You can bet I'll blog about it when little girl Placeholder arrives.  Hopefully, my Internet connection at the hospital will be better than Peter's was.

I congratulate you on the upcoming baby! We're about three weeks away from our little bundle of fill-in-the-blank's due date. I know dad needs to keep his hands busy, but I've been banned from bringing a laptop, and I have to say I agree. I want to be entirely focused on the experience, and blogging or emailing photos can wait til we get through the 500 feedings and diaper changes of the first two days...

When we had our last one (number six!), he was so late in coming, she agreed for me to bring in the laptop because otherwise I was missing a lot of hours in the hospital waiting with her! Congratulations and all the best on the arrival!

Mine are all grown up now, I must admit I am looking forward to being a grandparent so I can play farther again, but I hope to wait for a few more years for the privilege.

Enjoy the birth and take as many video’s and picture as you can.
