The Throbbing Floppy

In this era of networks and USB keys, why does Visual Studio show a throbbing floppy when it's saving work?

Just wondering.

    Probably because theres is no icon for hard drive that everyone would recognize.

    Then again look how often an icon of a scroll is used for a document or script. When was the last time anyone unrolled a document :-)
