Facebook, whining and having a sense of humor

I know that neither Fast Company nor Facebook is assuming that natives of the UK, Canada have no (or limited) sense of humor. But calling the use of mood-related status update words a "happiness" indicator is a little nuts. I understand cultural differences. But what about those of us that bring the snark more than others? And what about sarcasm and context? And what about telling your cube-mate, who is whining about a case of the Mondays to shut the hell up on FB?

And then what if you are just referring to a Boomtown Rats song? Just wondering.
