This article describes how to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Microsoft Office Word 2010, Microsoft Office Word 2007, Microsoft Office Word 2003, or Microsoft Word 2002. The methods that are described can help you determine the cause of a problem with Word when you cannot identify the problem by another method.

    Oy, lets try this again.  I just posted a fix for this that probably will work.  I also posted why this happens. First off Why?:  It usually happens when you have one or more different versions of Office installed on your computer.  I.e. leftover from not uninstalling or upgrading office instead of removing it first. The fix I found back in 2002 and it works to this day.  It was orignally to resolve an IO problem with PowerPoint but it's resolved over 25 different problems with office.  I found it on Microsoft's website.  First you backup the Current User and Local Machine Office registry keys.  Then you delete 8.0, 9.0 10.0, 11.0 12.0 and 14.0 for both CU and LM trees.  Then you either install something else in Office or do a repair install.  If you cannot kick-off the repair window you can run this command.  "C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedOFFICE14Office Setup ControllerSetup.exe" /modify PROPLUS /dll OSETUP.DLL. You may have to modify that command for your particular office version.  Good Luck, hope it helps.  Hopefully you're not pulling your hair out because I see some people have had this problem since 2011.

    I HAVE JUST INSTALLED OFFICE ENTERPRISE 2007 ON MY PC THAT RUNS ON WINDOWS 7 EVERY TIME I TRY TO START WORD / EXCEL ETC IT KEEPS RE-INSTALLING ITSELF CON SOMEONE HELP ME??

    My Product Key for Microsoft Word 7 keeps being rejected. It is the correct number.
