I was infected by XP Total Security through the Windows Automatic Updates.  I trusted it and thought it was from MIcrosoft, and now I cannot download updates.  Error message: 0x80070424

No solution?  I see lots of people complaining about this error, but no fixes.  FixIt just says "windows update is broken", but doesn't give any method to fix it.

I also have the error message (0x80070424) and cannot find a fix for it. What is the point of this blog? No one answers any of the posted comments with a solution.

I am also receiving error 0x8007277a. I have tried every solution I could find. Still no resolution. Very upset that Microsoft is doing nothing to resolve this issue when it appears to be a very common problem.
