Error message when you try to install a Windows update, a hotfix, or a service pack after you perform System Restore in Windows Vista: "0x80071A91"

INTRODUCTION

After you perform System Restore in Windows Vista, you cannot install a Windows update, a hotfix, or a service pack. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

80071A91 (ERROR_RM_NOT_ACTIVE)

    i don't know what is wrong most of the updates won't install

    I keep getting the same update and it says it is successfully installed.. then I check updates again and it is still there saying I need to update it... Its the same update package with the same id # kb936330.. I dont know what to do..
