Introduction to Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog
Welcome to the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog. This new blog is designed to provide you the insights, knowledge, and challenges that our support engineers tackle every day. Microsoft has two other blogs, one that provides a product focus called Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP and the other has development focus called Developing for Dynamics GP, we thought it was time to have one with a Support focus. With content supplied from Microsoft's own support teams we will focus on topics like:

Two different support teams have come together to drive the content for this blog:
- The Microsoft Premier Field Engineering team
- This team is a part of the Microsoft Premier Support organization with a focus on Dynamics GP. Premier Support offers, among other things, Dedicated Support Engineers. A Dedicated Support Engineer is a designated specialist that shares pertinent information with the customer's IT staff and Business Decision Makers to provide support services and resources to help mitigate operational risks.
- This team is a part of the Microsoft Premier Support organization with a focus on Dynamics GP. Premier Support offers, among other things, Dedicated Support Engineers. - The Dynamics GP Support Team
- This team is part of the Commercial Technical Support organization. Contributors to the blog reside in our Fargo campus, which is the Global Escalation Center. These team members have a deep technical knowledge, with a majority having over 10 years of tenure. The Fargo Dynamics GP Support Team provides support globally.
This blog site was previous called "The GP Field Team blog". Jeffery Katz, the previous owner of this blog, left Microsoft approximately 18 months ago. His efforts on creating this blog and the amount of fantastic content he provided are still much appreciated, and will still remain on the blog as much of it still has great value.

Sir, I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I wanted to ask a question: We are in the process of preparing for an upgrade from GP9 to GP2010, can I implement 2010r2 or do I need to do 2010 first and then upgrade? As well, when is r2 going to be available for release?Anonymous

Jason, The best forum for this type of question would in the communities site at community.dynamics.com/.../32.aspx. Last I heard the targeted release date was May 1, 2011. I haven't seen the upgrade requirements yet, I would imagine that you would be able to upgrade from v9 to 2010R2 but I can’t guarantee that! I hope you will be rebuilding your security from scratch for the upgrade! Thanks, Terry.
