Consolidation links
Most of my Windows Server consolidation presentations contain the following links, most are well known (or should be but you’d be surprised at how often people don’t know they exist) so I thought it would help to have them all in one place:
Mixed Workload Consolidation Guide
https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0F70695E-5D0B-4781-8966-84BE43216F9E&displaylang=en
Solution Accelerator for Consolidating and Migrating LOB Applications
https://www.microsoft.com/technet/itsolutions/ucs/lob/lobsa/lobsaovw.mspx
“How to” upgrade guides, from NT4, 2000, UNIX etc.
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/upgrading/default.mspx
DSI (Dynamic Systems Initiative)
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/dsi/default.mspx
The top three links all contain great advice, how to instructions, process and decision criteria. The last of these links is about the Dynamic Systems Initiative which is a commitment from Microsoft and its partners to help IT teams capture and use knowledge to design more manageable systems and automate ongoing operations.
