Windows Phone app for Desktop: "We couldn’t find your Podcasts library, but you can create a new one using Windows Explorer, and we’ll use that."
Solution: Create a new Library.
Library must be named “Podcasts”
Library must be of type “Music”
To change library type:
1.
Right click library
in Explorer
2.
Choose Properties
3.
In Library
tab change Optimize this library for to Music
Hat Tip to Peter Jausovec and Hein Htat. Thanks!

Is there a way to mark a podcast episode as "played" on your PC, so that you can use the "unplayed episodes" option when syncing podcasts? - Anonymous

Creating a "Podcast" library didn't work for me until I created a "Podcast" folder in my user folder and included it in the library. - Anonymous

@NatWags - I just had to run through this again - great point! You have to actually go into your podcast folder and then it will prompt you to add one. Also, couldn't remember how to create a new library at first, so I had to go to the address bar in Windows Explorer and just type "Libraries", which took me to it. From there, the rest worked.
