Determine the integration path

You can two paths to integrate Windows SBS 2008 with Exchange Online. The path that you take depends on whether you currently use Exchange Server to send and receive e-mail.

The following table describes the two paths.

Integration path	Description
A new installation of Windows SBS 2008	Take this path after you install Windows SBS 2008, if you immediately want to start using Exchange Online. For step-by-step help to follow this path, see Using Exchange Online immediately after installing Windows Small Business Server 2008.
An existing installation of Windows SBS 2008	Take this path if you already use Exchange Server with Windows SBS 2008 and you have existing mailboxes that you want to migrate. For step-by-step help to follow this path, see Using Exchange Online after using a local Exchange Server.
