Use the Windows Small Business Server Desktop Links gadget

Note

Before you complete this task, install the Windows Small Business Server Desktop Links gadget. For more information, see Add the Windows Small Business Server Desktop Links gadget to the Windows Sidebar.

To use the Windows Small Business Server Desktop Links gadget

  1. Click Start, click Search, type Windows Sidebar, and then press ENTER. The Windows Sidebar appears. It includes the Windows Small Business Server Desktop Links gadget.

Tip

The links in the gadget may not work for up to 90 minutes, if your network administrator updated the Internet address of your organization by using the Internet Address Management Wizard.

  1. With the gadget, do one of the following:

    • To launch Remote Web Workplace, click Remote Web Workplace.

    • To check e-mail, click Check E-Mail.

    • To connect to any computer on the network (for which you have permissions) and to access the desktop, applications, files, and other resources as if you were at that computer in your office, click Connect to a Computer.

    • To open your organization's internal Web site, click Internal Web site.

    • To view your organization’s business Web site, in the Organization links section, click Browse your Business Web site.
This link is displayed only if the Office Live Small Business Web sites are set up by your network administrator, and you have the required permissions. If they not set up, the Organization Link section displays: Service Not Available.

- To view your organization’s extranet Web site, in the **Organization links** section, click **Browse your Business Applications Web site**. An extranet Web site is similar to a private network that uses the Internet to share business information with suppliers, vendors, partners, customers, and other businesses. You can think of an extranet as part of your intranet, which is extended to users outside of your organization and is accessible from the Internet. An extranet Web site provides a way for teams to share files, folders, and resources and to easily work together on documents with people who are not using the local computer network.
This link is displayed only if the Office Live Small Business Web sites are set up and you have the required permissions. If they are not set up, the Organization Link section displays: Service Not Available.
