This trial version has complete functionality that helps provide you with antivirus and anti-spam protection immediately after you install Windows SBS 2008.

Trial version of Forefront Security for Exchange Server

If you install the trial version of Forefront Security for Exchange Server, the 120-day trial period begins immediately after you install Windows SBS 2008. Forefront Security for Exchange Server is preconfigured with the recommended settings for Windows SBS 2008. For more information about Forefront Security for Exchange Server, see the Forefront Security for Exchange Server home page at the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=121103).

The trial version of Forefront Security for Exchange Server capitalizes on multiple scan engines from industry-leading security firms to check for viruses, worms, and other inappropriate content. Forefront Security for Exchange Server scans inbound and outbound e-mail messages. If a scan detects an infected attachment, the attachment is removed and the sender is notified.

You can view the overall operational state of Forefront Security for Exchange Server in the Windows SBS Console, both in the Network Essentials Summary (on the Security tab) and in the Summary and Detailed Reports section.

When the trial period expires, Forefront Security for Exchange Server stops getting updates, and it logs viruses without blocking them.
