Use this tab to configure the routes Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is allowed to advertise or accept.

Action

Allows you to specify that the options below the list are for incoming or outgoing route announcements. All of the options on this tab are specific to the direction you select. To set security for accepting routes, click For incoming routes, and then configure the security options. To set security for announcing routes, click For outgoing routes, and then reconfigure the security options.

Accept all routes (incoming)

Announce all routes (outgoing)

For incoming routes: Specifies that the router looks at every route entry in an incoming RIP announcement to determine whether to update its routing table.

For outgoing routes: Specifies that the router includes all appropriate route entries in outgoing RIP announcements.

Accept all routes in the ranges listed (incoming)

Announce all routes in the ranges listed (outgoing)

For incoming routes: Specifies that the router looks at each route entry in an incoming RIP announcement and processes the route only if the route falls between one of the ranges listed.

For outgoing routes: Specifies that the router includes a route in the outgoing RIP announcement only if the route falls into one of the ranges listed.

Ignore all routes in the ranges listed (incoming)

Do not announce all routes in the ranges listed (outgoing)

For incoming routes: Specifies that the router looks at each route entry in an incoming RIP announcement and discards the route if it falls into one of the ranges listed.

For outgoing routes: Specifies that the router excludes a route from the outgoing RIP announcement if the route falls into one of the ranges listed.

From

The IP address for the lower end of the range. For example, if you want to exclude all routes to the private network ID 10.0.0.0, you type 10.0.0.0 in From.

To

The IP address for the higher end of the range. For example, if you want to exclude all routes to the private network ID 10.0.0.0, you type 10.255.255.255 in To.

List

For incoming routes: Lists the route ranges to filter in the incoming RIP announcements.

For outgoing routes: Lists the route ranges to filter in the outgoing RIP announcements.
