Deploying Windows Server® 2008 regional domains involves creating new geographically based child domains under the Active Directory® Domain Services (AD DS) forest root domain. Deploying new Windows Server 2008 regional domains makes it possible for you to create a new domain structure. You can also improve your existing domain structure to take advantage of available bandwidth and optimize replication traffic.
