<Operation Name> Properties Dialog Box

Important

Authorization Manager is available for use in the following versions of Windows: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. It is deprecated as of Windows Server 2012 R2 and may be removed in subsequent versions.

Operations are permissions that are associated with security procedures. Operations are meaningful to authorization application developers, but might not be meaningful to administrators (for example, to read or write attributes of an object).

 The following table describes the UI elements for this dialog box.

Item Description

Name

Provides a space to type the name of the operation definition.

The operation name must be unique to the authorization store. The name of an operation has a maximum size limit of 64 bytes.

Description

Provides a space to type the description of the operation. The description does not affect the operation of Authorization Manager, so you should enter text that is meaningful to you.

Operation number

Provides a space to type the operation number of the operation definition.

The application uses the operation number to identify the operation.

The value can range from 1 to 2147483647.
