Change the path and file name of the ICF security log

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To change the path and file name of the ICF security log

  1. Open Network Connections.

  2. Right-click the connection on which Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) has been enabled, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Advanced tab, click Settings.

  4. On the Security Logging tab, under Log file options, click Browse, and then do the following:

    • To change the path of the ICF security log, navigate to the location where you want the ICF security log to be saved. (If you do not want to change the path, do not navigate to a new location.)

    • To change the file name of the ICF security log, in File name, type a new name, and then click Open. (If you do not want to change the default file name, in File name, type pfirewall, and then click Open.)

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure.

  • To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.

  • The default name for the ICF security log is pfirewall.log, and the default location is in the Windows directory.

  • Internet Connection Firewall is included only in the original releases of Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, and Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition.

  • This topic applies only to product features available in the original release of Windows Server 2003.
