  5. On the Failover tab, type values for Threshold and Period.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • To open Cluster Administrator, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Cluster Administrator.

  • The failover policy for a group is the maximum number of times (Threshold) that the group is allowed to fail over in the specified number of hours (Period) before it is left in a failed state. If a group fails over more often than this, the Cluster service leaves it offline. For example, if a group failover threshold is set to 5 and its failover period to 3, the Cluster service will fail over the group at most five times within a three-hour period. The sixth time a resource in the group fails, the Cluster service fails all other resources in the group and leaves the entire group offline instead of failing over the group.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
