Add route filters

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To add route filters

Open Routing and Remote Access.
In the console tree, click RIP.

Where?
- Routing and Remote Access/server name/IP Routing/RIP
In the details pane, right-click the interface on which you want to set route filters, and then click Properties.
On the Security tab, in Action, do one of the following:
- If you want filters to be applied to incoming RIP-for-IP announcement packets, click For incoming routes.
- If you want filters to be applied to outgoing RIP-for-IP announcement packets, click For outgoing routes.
Do one of the following:
- To include all routes, click Accept all routes.
- To specify a range of addresses to accept or exclude, click Accept all routes in the ranges listed or Ignore all routes in the ranges listed, type in the range, and click Add.
After you set route filters, click OK.

Note

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group. As a security best practice, consider using the Run As command rather than logging on with administrative credentials. If you have logged on with administrative credentials, you can also open Routing and Remote Access by clicking Start, clicking Control Panel, double-clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Routing and Remote Access.
