Verify permissions for the RAS and IAS security group

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To verify permissions for the RAS and IAS security group

  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.

  2. On the View menu, confirm that Advanced Features is selected.

  3. In the console tree, right-click RAS and IAS Servers Access Check.

    Where?

    • Active Directory Users and Computers/domain name/System/RAS and IAS Servers Access Check
  4. Click Properties.

  5. On the Security tab, do one of the following:

    • In Group or User names, if RAS and IAS Servers is listed, click RAS and IAS Servers (DomainName\RAS and IAS Servers), and under Permissions for RAS and IAS Servers, verify that the Read, Write, Create All Child Objects, and Delete All Child Objects check boxes are selected.

    • In Group or User names, if RAS and IAS Servers is not listed, add RAS and IAS Servers. Then, in Group or user names, click RAS and IAS Servers, and in Permissions for RAS and IAS Servers (DomainName\RAS and IAS Servers), select the Read, Write, Create All Child Objects, and Delete All Child Objects check boxes.

  • To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Active Directory Users and Computers.
