Enable direct hosting of IPX

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To enable direct hosting of IPX

  1. Open Network Connections.

  2. Right-click a local area connection, and then click Properties.

  3. In the list of installed components, clear the NWLink NetBIOS check box.

Important

  • Client Service for NetWare is not available on 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.

Notes

  • To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.

  • To enable direct hosting of IPX, you must first install the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol (NWLink).

  • You must be a member of the Administrators group to enable direct hosting of IPX.

  • When you clear the NWLink NetBIOS check box, the component is disabled for all IPX interfaces. However, you can clear the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol check box on a per-interface basis.
