Set the desired free space for a volume

To set the desired free space for a volume

Open Remote Storage.
In the console tree, double-click Remote Storage, and then click Managed Volumes.
In the details pane, right-click the applicable volume, and then click Settings.
On the Settings tab, in Desired free space, click the UP or DOWN ARROW to increase or decrease the value.

Notes

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.
To open Remote Storage, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Remote Storage.
Using this procedure, you can define the free space for the volume. When the available space on the volume falls below this setting, Remote Storage frees up space on the volume by removing cached data from files that have been copied to remote storage.
You use this procedure to configure Remote Storage to automatically free up space on your volume when the actual free space falls below the Desired Free Space setting. For information on how to override this setting and immediately free up space on your volume, see Related Topics.
