Configure the Always On power scheme with Terminal Services installed

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To configure the Always On power scheme with Terminal Services installed

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Power Options.

  3. In the Power Options Properties dialog box, under Power schemes, verify that Always On is selected.

  4. Under Settings for Always On power scheme, verify that Turn off hard disks is set to Never.

Important

  • APM/ACPI Power saving features must not be enabled on server cluster members. A cluster member that turns off disk drives can initiate a failure in the cluster. If multiple cluster nodes have power saving enabled, this can result in the entire cluster becoming unavailable.

Notes

  • To open a Control Panel item, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.

  • Installing Terminal Services on a system reduces the power management options available to the user. The System standby and System hibernates options are not available.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
