Step 13: Test Failover on WCF Broker Nodes

Applies To: Microsoft HPC Pack 2012, Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 R2

You can perform a basic test to confirm that a clustered Windows Communications Foundation (WCF) broker node can fail over successfully to another server in that failover cluster. Some user interface details may differ slightly in your deployment, depending on your version of Windows Server.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To test failover on WCF broker nodes

  1. In Failover Cluster Manager, select or specify the cluster that you want.

  2. Click the clustered WCF broker node for which you want to test failover.

  3. Right-click the clustered file server, click Move, click Selected Node, and click the available choice of node. You can observe the status changes in the center pane of Failover Cluster Manager as the clustered resources move.

  4. Optionally, move the WCF broker node to an additional server in the failover cluster or back to the original server.
