Remarks

Windows Internet Explorer 8. The IHTMLCurrentStyle::layoutGridChar attribute is an extension to CSS, and can be used as a synonym for layout-grid-char in IE8 Standards mode.

The visual effects of the IHTMLCurrentStyle::layoutGridChar attribute are similar to the IHTMLCurrentStyle::lineHeight property.

Web documents in Asian languages, such as Chinese or Japanese, usually create a page layout for characters using a one- or two-dimensional grid. You can use the IHTMLRuleStyle2::layoutGrid attribute to incorporate this layout into Web documents.

The IHTMLCurrentStyle::layoutGridChar attribute applies only to block-level elements.

Note  For this property to have an effect, the IHTMLCurrentStyle::layoutGridMode attribute must be set to char or both.
