Using Shared Source Code in an OS Design (Windows CE 5.0)

Microsoft® Windows® CE provides access to sample source code covered by the Microsoft Shared Source License Agreement.

Under this agreement, you can use this source code for several purposes, including enhancing your understanding of a component's inner design, as an aid in diagnosing any problems with your OS design, and assisting in the OS design of Windows CE on new hardware.

Note   To understand the rights you have to a specific source code file, review the copyright header of each file.

When you install Windows CE, source code is typically in the %_WINCEROOT%\Public and %_WINCEROOT%\Platform directories, which are in the directory where Platform Builder is installed. This code is also referred to as public code.

When you install Windows CE Shared Source, additional source code is also installed in the %_WINCEROOT%\Private directory. This code is also referred to as private code.

For more information about Shared Source code for Windows CE, see this Microsoft Web site.
