Changing the Shell in Thin Client (Windows CE 5.0)
By default, Windows Thin Client uses the Thin Client shell and provides a default connection, bypassing the Thin Client Wizard. When this default connection is used, the user is prompted for a server.
The following table shows how you can change this default behavior.

| Windows Thin Client Shell with a default connection | This is the default. On device startup, the Thin Client Setup Wizard is bypassed and a default connection is used. This default connection launches the Windows CE Terminal Services Client (CETSC), and the user is prompted for a server. |
| Windows Thin Client Shell without a default connection | On device startup, the Thin Client Setup Wizard is displayed in which to set up a connection. The following list shows the ways in which to change from the default to this shell and behavior:

| Standard Windows CE Shell | On device startup, the standard Windows CE Shell is displayed, containing the CETSC icon on the desktop. The user must select the CETSC icon to make a connection.
To use the standard shell, you should add Standard Shell to your OS design from the Catalog. |
When you use either the Windows Thin Client Shell with a default connection, or the Standard Windows CE Shell, the user input is saved in an .rdp file. For more information, see Terminal Services Client Configuration through the .rdp File.
When you use the Windows Thin Client Shell without a default connection, the user input is saved in the registry. For more information, see Configuring the Terminal Services Client.
