Catalog Items View (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

In Windows Embedded CE 6.0, the Catalog Items View window is used to view all available items in the Platform Builder Catalog. After you have opened or created an OS design in Platform Builder, you can use this window to further modify the items that your OS design contains.

For information about the Catalog, see Catalog Overview.

The Catalog Items View window displays a toolbar with several options that you can choose from. These options include the Filter menu, the Refresh button, and the Catalog Item Search field.

One of the most important options is the choice of the filter that Platform Builder uses to display items in this window. This is because you can choose to filter the displayed items in several ways to assist the selection of Catalog items for inclusion in your OS design.

The following list shows the filter options that you can choose from:

  • User-selected Catalog Items Only
When selected, this displays only the Catalog items that you have explicitly chosen to include in your OS design.
  • User-selected Catalog Items and Dependencies
When selected, this displays both the Catalog items that you have explicitly chosen to include, and the Catalog items that have been brought in by dependency.
For more information, see Catalog Item Dependencies.
  • All Catalog Items in Catalog
When selected, this displays all the available items in the Catalog.

At times in the OS design development process, you might want to refresh the Catalog Items View display. This is useful in situations such as when you have added a new Catalog item to the Catalog.

Finally, if you do not know what items are available or their location in the Catalog, you can enter terms into the Catalog Item Search field to search the Catalog for results that match the terms. Platform Builder will automatically display the first hit that is returned. To continue the search and display the next match result, click the green arrow button to continue.

For information about the icons used for different types and for notifications, see Catalog Item Icon Types.
