CeGetVersionEx (RAPI) (Windows CE 5.0)

This function obtains extended information about the version of the operating system that is currently running.

CeGetVersionEx is a remote application programming interface (RAPI), which enables an application running on a desktop computer to make function calls on a Windows CE–based device.

BOOLCeGetVersionEx(LPCEOSVERSIONINFOlpVersionInformation);

Parameters

  • lpVersionInformation
    [out] Long pointer to an CEOSVERSIONINFO data structure that the function fills with operating system version information.

    Before calling the CeGetVersionEx function, set the dwOSVersionInfoSize member of the CEOSVERSIONINFO data structure to sizeof(CEOSVERSIONINFO).

Return Values

Nonzero indicates success. Zero indicates failure. To determine if a function failed because of RAPI errors, call CeRapiGetError. To determine if a function failed because of non-RAPI errors, call CeGetLastError.

Remarks

CeGetVersionEx fails if you specify an invalid value for the dwOSVersionInfoSize member of the CEOSVERSIONINFO structure.

When writing applications for Windows CE 1.0 and 1.01, use the PegGetVersionEx function.

When writing applications for Windows CE Japanese 2.01 be aware that the Tool Bar will indicate that the version is 2.0.
