This method sets a registry value.

HRESULT RegistrySetValue(  LONG hKey,  LPCOLESTR lpSubKey,  LPCOLESTR lpValueName,  DWORD dwType,  LPCOLESTR lpData,  DWORD cbData);

Parameters

  • hKey
    [in] Base key to create a new key under.
  • lpSubKey
    [in] Subkey to set a value under.
  • lpValueName
    [in] Value to set.
  • dwType
    [in] Value type to set.
  • lpData
    [in] Data to set.
  • cbData
    [in] Length of data.

Return Values

If the method fails, it returns an HRESULT error code.

If the method succeeds, it returns one of the following:

Value Description
S_OK Indicates the method call was successful.
E_INVALIDARG Indicates invalid arguments.

Requirements

OS Version: Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1.
