IAdminIndexServer::Stop method

[Indexing Service is no longer supported as of Windows XP and is unavailable for use as of Windows 8. Instead, use Windows Search for client side search and Microsoft Search Server Express for server side search.]

Shuts down Indexing Service on the computer named in the MachineName property (if Indexing Service is already running).

Syntax

HRESULT Stop();

Parameters

This method has no parameters.

Return value

If this method succeeds, it returns S_OK. Otherwise, it returns an HRESULT error code.

Remarks

Any failure encountered when trying to stop Indexing Service results in the creation of an error object. A call to this method does not return until the Indexing Service has finished shutting down.
