Working with Rules Extensions Created in Visual Studio 2003

You can run all existing rules extensions that were created using Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional (whether they were compiled with .NET Framework 1.1 or .NET Framework 2.0) on Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) without recompiling your projects.

However, all new development and debugging for Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 SP2 rules extensions require Visual Studio 2005 Professional, Visual Basic 2005 (or Express Edition), or Visual C# 2005. If you use Visual Studio 2005 Professional with your existing rules extensions, the extensions will be converted to a Visual Studio 2005 Professional project and will be converted to .NET Framework 2.0.

For more information about upgrading Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional projects to Visual Studio 2005 Professional, see "How to: Upgrade Projects Created in Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003" in the MSDN Library.
