System Data Source Plug-ins
Digital content can be retrieved from a file, a database, a distribution stream, a live feed, or other source. You can use a data source plug-in in conjunction with an appropriate media parser plug-in to read content from the data source. Windows Media Services includes the following plug-ins to read from a network, a file, or an encoder.

WMS Network Data Source |

WMS File Data Source |
Enables the Windows Media server to access playlist and media files that are stored on a FAT, FAT32, NTFS, or CIFS file system. |
