Remarks
The proper way to derive from this method is to try to initialize the object by checking to see if it implements the corresponding interface. If it doesn't, this method should be called in an attempt to initialize it. If this function returns null that means we were not able to initialize it either. It is then up to the derived class to decide what it should do.
