How to: Group Report Controls

You can associate multiple controls with each other and save this preference in the layout by grouping them. After you format and align controls, grouping them is useful for preserving their positions with respect to one another. After you group controls, you can move them them as a single unit.

Note

Properties are not available for grouped items. You must un-group them before you can invoke their properties dialog boxes.

To group controls

  1. Open the report or label in the appropriate designer.

  2. In the designer, select the controls you want to group.

  3. On the Format menu, click Group.

The selection handles move from each control to surround the group of controls.

To remove grouping from grouped controls

  1. Open the report or label in the appropriate designer.

  2. In the designer, click the group of controls.

  3. On the Format menu, click Ungroup.

The selection handles move from surrounding the group of controls to the edges of each of the controls that were in the group.
