Hosting providers use the Administration service from Service Provider Foundation to allocate networking bandwidth, disk space, and servers, which together represent the private cloud to tenants.

Tenants
Tenants consume and manage services that the hosting provider has offered to them. These services are then provisioned to self-service users by the tenant administrators in the form of virtual machine networks, virtual machines, virtual hardware, and cloud infrastructure. A hosting provider manages the resources that each tenant has available to it. For example, a hosting provider designs a stamp with its servers and then offers it to a tenant. A hosting provider or tenant administrator also designs and offers Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) hardware templates and sets usage quotas for a tenant or a self-service user.
Important
If any property of a tenant account is changed, self-service user accounts that the tenant created have the Share and Receive permissions removed. These permissions must be restored to all self-service users. For more information about how to add a permission, see How to Add a Permission to a User Role.
Roles
A role represents a self-service user for the tenant.
Servers
A server represents a Virtual Machine Manager server that provides infrastructure services to the tenant.
Stamps
Stamps are reproducible sets of hardware that can be used to host VMM servers and cloud infrastructure. Tenants are assigned to stamps, and they can access all the resources that the stamp provides. A single VMM server is assigned to a stamp.
When a stamp is associated with a tenant, a corresponding tenant administrator user role is created on the server to which the stamp is assigned. Multiple stamps can be associated with a tenant.
Trusted Issuers
Trusted issuers represent claims-based authentication certificates that a hosting provider installs. These certificates are used for communication between the hosting provider portal and Service Provider Foundation.
Offers
An offer represents a set of actions, resources, networks, and private clouds with which a tenant can be associated.
