Scenario: Managing Management Packs

Applies To: System Center 2012 - Service Manager

[This topic is pre-release documentation and is subject to change in future releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

A management pack must initially be installed for use by Service Manager. Also, a management pack must be reimported into the management group if the management pack has been updated externally. This applies whether the update was to the management pack XML file or the management pack bundle.

A management pack can make reference to other management packs. This allows one management pack to use components of other management packs.

The management pack XML defines references under the <Manifest><References> section by the use of <Reference> nodes. Reference links are automatically created for you when you assemble a management pack through code. This occurs as soon as you reference other objects discovered by use of the management group object.
