Prepare Grammar Input and Output File Format

Prepare Grammar converts grammar files with the “.cfg” file extension to grammar files with the “.cfgpp” extension (prepared grammar file).

Input File Format

The input file for Prepare Grammar is a binary grammar file with the “.cfg” extension, as produced by the Compile Grammar tool. You must use both the Compile Grammar and Prepare Grammar operations to produce a file with the “.cfgpp” extension from an XML-format grammar file. It is an accepted convention to use the “.grxml” file extension for XML-based grammar documents that conform to the SRGS specification.

Output File Format

The output of the Prepare Grammar is a binary file with the “.cfgpp” extension. Files with the “.cfgpp” extension contain information that optimizes them for use with a specific instance of a speech recognition engine.
