The Workflow Manager for SQL Server is an administration tool that makes it possible for you to manage your existing workflow applications, view and manage templates, create and synchronize user directory information, and create instances of workflow applications based on templates.
Note Many tasks that rely on the Workflow Manager for SQL Server require appropriate permissions. For example, to edit user information, you must have server administrator permissions. Therefore, if certain buttons are disabled in the Workflow Manager for SQL Server, you do not have the required permissions to perform those tasks.
There are three tabs in the Workflow Manager for SQL Server: Workflow Applications, Templates, and User Information.
Workflow Applications tab
Displays a list of workflow applications available on the selected SQL Server. You can create a template, edit the selected application's registration properties, and delete a selected application from the server.Templates tab
Displays a list of the application templates available on the selected server. You can create instances of templates, import and export templates, edit template properties, and delete selected templates from the server.User Information tab
Displays the contents of the workflow application User Directory, which is a list of users who have access to workflow applications on the selected server. You can edit information about selected users, configure the synchronization schedule, and start a synchronization cycle manually.Note You cannot add or delete users from the User Information tab. If you want to add a user, you must use SQL Server Enterprise Manager to add the user to the database user list and then synchronize.
In addition to the tabs, there is a server list that is always available, along with a button to refresh the list.
- Server list
Displays a list of the SQL Servers in the local Microsoft® Windows® domain. You can select or type the name of a server and click Refresh to view workflow applications, application templates, and user information on that server. To use this administration tool, the target server must have the Workflow Services for SQL Server installed. - Refresh
Connects to the selected server and retrieves information about workflow applications, application templates, and workflow users.
