ResourcePlan.QueueCreateResourcePlan Method

Creates a new resource plan.

public void QueueCreateResourcePlan(
    Guid projectUid,
    ResourcePlanDataSet rpds,
    bool timephasedFTE,
    bool autoCheckIn,
    Guid jobUid
)

Parameters

  • projectUid
    Type: System.Guid
    Contains the project GUID.
  • timephasedFTE
    Type: System.Boolean
    If true, create with timephased full-time equivalent resources.
  • autoCheckIn
    Type: System.Boolean
    If true, check in the resource plan to the Published database after creation.
  • jobUid
    Type: System.Guid
    Contains the Queue job GUID.

Examples

The example uses the SvcResourcePlan namespace in the ProjectServerServices.dll proxy assembly. The methods SetResPlanClientEndPoints, SetQueueClientEndPoints, SetProjectClientEndPoints, and SetResourceClientEndPoints use an app.config file for setting the WCF binding, behavior, and endpoint. For information about creating a PSI proxy assembly and an app.config file, see Prerequisites for WCF-Based Code Samples.

Note

The following example demonstrates the use of the QueueCreateResourcePlan method; it is not a full solution.

The GenerateResourcePlan method calls GenerateResources to create two resources and calls the GenerateProject method to create a project. Next, it creates a resource plan of specified length and adds the resources to the plan. After it adds the resources, the GenerateResourcePlan method calls GetIntervalNameByDate to get the intervals and sets the work for each interval by calling the SetWorkForResourceForInterval method.

Intervals are generated when the ResourcePlan is read from the server based on the date range and the timescale, but in Project Web App, you only see the resource information and the timephased data. For example, when you read the resource plan with a date range and a timescale (interval) type, (for example, from 1/1/2010 to 12/31/2010 in MONTHS) it returns twelve rows or intervals in the Dates table. These rows have names that are columns in the PlanResources table. This is demonstrated by the following code snippet.

// Read the ResourcePlan.
            SvcResourcePlan.ResourcePlanDataSet rpds =
                new SvcResourcePlan.ResourcePlanDataSet();
            rpds = resourcePlanClient.ReadResourcePlan("", projUid,
                DateTime.Now, endDate,
                (short)PSLibrary.ResourcePlan.TimeScale.Months, false, false);

To set the work value for an interval, you find the resource row (by RES_UID) and the interval name (from the Dates table, for example, Interval0 to Interval11). Set the value there in project units (for example, 4800 for 1 day of work), as shown in the following code snippet.

SvcResourcePlan.ResourcePlanDataSet.DatesRow drow =
                rds.Dates.FindByIntervalName(intervalName);
            if (drow == null)
            {
                Console.WriteLine("Failed to set value for interval {0}. Did not find interval.",
                    intervalName);
                return;
            }
            SvcResourcePlan.ResourcePlanDataSet.PlanResourcesRow prow =
                rds.PlanResources.FindByRES_UIDPROJ_UID(resourceGuid, pGuid);
            prow[intervalName] = value * PSLibrary.ValidationConst.s_cal_units_per_hour; // 8*60*10 = 4800

Finally, the QueueCreateResourcePlan method is called to create the resource plan. The timescale used is months and the timephased full-time equivalents are set to false. The complete sample code is as follows.
