Messaging and the Exchange Store

Topic Last Modified: 2006-06-12

The following section introduces the new messaging technology and the related content classes provided by the Exchange store and Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 .

  • Messaging Content Classes - The Exchange store and messaging applications use content classes to define the intent or purpose of an item. A rich set of content classes used with messaging applications is provided, and your applications can extend these classes to define in finer detail the purpose of messaging items present in the Exchange store.
  • The Exchange Mail Submission URI - Each Exchange 2007 private information store provides a special Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for each mailbox that you can use to send messages. Similar to the SMTP, you can send messages using this URI with the Exchange OLE DB (ExOLEDB) provider and with the WebDAV protocol.
