Archiving IIS Log Files

We recommend that you periodically move your log files from your Web servers to a more secure location. This may also be the location from which you import the log files into the Commerce Server 2009 Data Warehouse. When you move these files, you must do it in a secure way. One way to help you with security is to use separate network segments that run directly from your staging environment to your production environment.

By default, in Windows Server 2003, Internet Information Services (IIS) log files are stored in the %systemdrive%\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC# folder on the computer that is running IIS, where # is the number of the site. On Windows Server 2008, the log files are stored by default in the %SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles folder.
