Plan and prepare for Power Apps in 2025 release wave 1
Important
The 2025 release wave 1 plan covers all new functionalities planned to be delivered to market from April 2025 to September 2025. In this article, you'll find the product overview and what's new and planned for Power Apps.
Overview
Power Apps is a suite of apps, services, and connectors, as well as a data platform, that provides a rapid development environment to build custom apps for your business needs. Using Power Apps, you can quickly build custom business apps that connect to your data stored either in the underlying data platform (Microsoft Dataverse) or in many online and on-premises data sources (such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, or SQL Server). Power Apps welcomes business users, pro-developers, IT admins, and any other role that needs to build business applications.
Key investments this wave include:
- Plan Designer: Makers can go from business requirements and ideas to intelligent software solutions using with the help of the plan designer and a set of agents that collaborate to create the solution. That solution not only will include applications, but also other Power Platform assets like Pages, Flows, Copilots and custom agents. The solution will combine new artifacts and existing ones. Makers can create custom agents from their existing applications and make them part of the solution that they are creating.
- Extensible in app agents: Every application is intelligent and includes a set of built in agents that will assist customers in the flow of their work to accomplish key tasks with minimal friction and maximum productivity. These agents will be governable, observable, and extensible, so organizations will be able to extend and change the intelligent features to meet the needs and requirements of their businesses.
- Bring your own agents: For organizations that have custom agents, Power Apps is the best way to put those agents to work in their applications. Power Apps makes it easy to bring an agent to contribute to an app, oversee its work and understand what it has done, and provide help and guidance when the agent requires it.

Investment areas
Building modern apps
Power Apps is rolling out a range of updates that will modernize apps by default, leading to higher developer productivity and user satisfaction. With these updates, developers will be able to take advantage of modern controls, responsive templates, and offline apps by default. Users can expect a refreshed and modernized interface, simpler sharing options, and better collaboration tools.
Copilot for Power Apps makers and users
Copilot allows both makers and users to use AI and natural language to accelerate app development and incorporate AI into existing apps for enhanced data analysis. Makers can leverage copilots to create and modify apps, work with data, and enhance overall functionality. Users can use natural language to explore data and navigate apps, improving the overall user experience.
Enable enterprise scale
Power Apps is constantly enhancing its features for makers and administrators, facilitating the implementation of low-code solutions at an enterprise level. Power Apps Studio is receiving upgrades to its monitoring and code management tools, to better assist makers working on larger and complex apps.
